Welcome to Whirlpool Scotland

Corryvreckan Whirlpool Footage - Picture of Corryvreckan DVD Video Presentation

Corryvreckan DVD Almost Sold Out

The last few remaining copies of the popular DVD made by Mike Murray and David Philip may still be available for purchase (a superbly well-informed film, with extensive footage of one of the most famous naturally occurring whirlpools in the world).

For further information and details of how to order your copy of the DVD, please see - DVD Sales and Feedback - page. The film is a perfect gift for someone who perhaps is unable to travel to the west coast of Scotland, or ideal as a memento for anyone lucky enough to have visited the spectacular Corryvreckan Whirlpool.

One of the main departure points for boat trips to the whirlpool and its waters, known as the Gulf of Corryvreckan, is the small port of Ardfern on the banks of Loch Craignish. A purpose built catamaran for up to 60 passengers called 'Sea Leopard II' took over from its predecessor as the main vessel in operation for Craignish Cruises, in late 2010.

Corryvreckan Whirlpool Boat Trips - Picture of Sea Leopard II Catamaran

The Sea Leopard's skipper has over three decades of experience and takes visitors on a choice of - unforgettable boat trips - that combine viewing the Gulf of Corryvreckan or the waters around the Garvellach Islands with dolphin spotting, bird watching and discovering the wildlife of this beautiful stretch of coastline.

A two hour cruise can take you across the Sound of Jura to the whirlpool (whilst hearing both factual commentary and legendary tales), past a seal colony and a sea eagle nesting site. Longer trips can venture south to a property once owned by George Orwell, around the isle of Scarba or to the Garvellach Islands.

Water taxi services or private charters are also available, and sightings from the boat can include a wide variety of sea birds, otters, porpoise, sharks or whales, whilst on dry land wild coastal deer are often seen.
